Generate a QR code in Canva

Create a QR code for your assessment link inside Canva and add it to any printed design.

A QR code turns your assessment link into something a patient can scan from a poster, a postcard, or a table tent. Canva generates them for free inside any design.

Before you start

Copy your Print link or Social link from your Opaline admin.

Using these unique UTM link keeps your in-person scans and social media scans separate in your reporting.

Add a QR code from Elements

  1. Open the Canva design you want to add the code to.

  2. In the left sidebar, click Elements.

  3. In the search field, type QR code.

  4. In the banner that appears, click Create static.

  5. In the URL field, paste your Opaline assessment link.

  6. Click Generate code.

Customize your QR code

The Static QR Codes app gives you three options:

  • Foreground color — the color of the code itself

  • Background color — the color behind it

  • Margin — the white space around the edge

Keep strong contrast between foreground and background, and keep the code darker than what's behind it. Light codes on dark backgrounds often fail to scan. Do not reduce the margin to zero — phone cameras need that border to find the code.

Download your design

  1. In the top-right corner of the editor, click Share.

  2. Click Download.

  3. Choose your file type, then click Download.

Use PDF Print for anything going to a printer, and JPG or PNG for digital use.

Test before you print

Scan the code with your own phone before you send anything to a printer or a post on social media. Confirm it opens your assessment and that the completion appears in your Leads Dashboard.

Canva's Static QR Codes cannot be edited after they're generated. If your link changes, you'll need to create a new code and reprint. Test carefully before ordering a print run.

Print QR codes on a matte or silk finish. Gloss creates glare that prevents phone cameras from reading the code. To learn how to use your new print, see Promote your assessment in person and in print.
